Substance abuse among youth is a growing global concern, necessitating culturally relevant preventive interventions. The MANSA Ek Sankalp program—Mothers Against Narcotics & Substance Abuse—is a structured, community-based intervention developed to control and to prevent addiction by educating both youth and more importantly their families/ caregivers.
The phased approach of this program includes:
1. Youth Empowering Hub (Tarunya Drishtikon):
Through different activities program tries to induce confidence, empathy, and decision making traits among youth, and provide ing insight to understand the difference between peer pressure and friendship by using CBT, role-playing, and perspective taking therapy.
2. Parental Guidance Programs:
Parental guidance program is prepared to make parents understand personality traits, it’s requirements , and to recognize the early signs of substance use, provide emotional immunity education, and foster a preventive home environment.
3. Civic Spark & Digital Bridge:
Our collective Role against substance abuse through awareness campaigns, short videos, and local workshops to develop trust, educational workshops on peer pressure and supportive networks around youth.
The initial results from the pilot session indicate the increase in awareness amongst youth, improvement in communication within families and thus by reduction in substance-seeking behaviours. This program shows that combining structured intervention with the active participation of the community is capable of creating a sustainable and culturally relevant prevention model.
