Art therapy in cases of neuropsychological disorders requires, before any diagnostic determination, a competence that consists of a thorough knowledge of the neurological process of perception. Genetically determined disorders and those caused by psychosocial or psychoemotional factors must be distinguished from each other. The speaker illustrates with relevant examples (e.g., examples from: fragile-X- syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, psychotraumatic disorder) what knowledge the practitioner must possess. Knowledge of the processing of, in particular: visual impressions is indispensable (see literature: K.-H. Menzen: The Receptivity of the Eye. dt./german, Edition Pabst/Germany).
